Re: Which Version To Use

Hi I had an absolute nightmare with Tradestation when I carried out a Windows update KB5083769.
I had to reinstall a previous version of windows to be able to run TS 65.
Can I check -- is everyone avoiding windows updates when using Tradestation 65?

I manually update Windows every 5 weeks, often over the weekend and pause further updates until next 5 weeks in the Windows Update Setup to avoid automatic updates happening while TradeStation is running.

I have been using TradeStation v10 Update 88 for many months; it has shown no issues with the Windows update approach above. I have also frozen TradeStation updates using the approach that Dave Fisher (MultiWalk creator) has described so clearly!

Re: Which Version To Use

I am using Update 65, I also update every 5 weeks.  I don't know if Windows update KB5083769 was installed yet.  I am on Windows 11 Professional.

Re: Which Version To Use

I'm late to this conversation, but I feel like the newer versions of TradeStation 10 are actually pretty good. I remember 3-4 years ago they were almost unusable and I would always have to use the legacy version for live trading. Now I develop so many strategies using the latest version of TradeStation that I actually use that to trade versus the legacy. I'm not sure if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Re: Which Version To Use

Update on my TS update 94 experiences. I had two crashes today. No Multiwalk running, only a few charts, strategies, and some indicators. But to put things into perspective, I have the crashes with previous versions of TS. TS is ehhmm.. how do I say this nice... not the most stable program I've ever encountered.

Cause: ORPlat.exe, TradeStation's platform host, faulted twice.

  - 15:29:30 — ORPlat.exe faulted in ucrtbase.dll, exception 0xc0000409 (fail-fast / stack buffer overrun).  Orchart.exe then died twice at 15:30:22 and 15:30:24 with 0xc000041d (unhandled exception in a callback). The host went first and took the charting processes with it.
  - 16:45:34 — after your first restart had already recovered, ORPlat.exe faulted again, this time in ntdll.dll with 0xc0000374 — heap corruption. That's what forced the PC restart.
